Osman Balkan is a Portrait-photographer, who starves to capture these moments on a piece of paper or film and show it to the world, being fascinated by contemplative moments honesty, spontaneity and natural light, .
While being inspired by music and the stories of the people he gets to know he sticks to old fashioned analog film photography as his main tool of the art. He skillfully uses natural lightning to emphasize the beauty in nature and reality he perceives. During his work he very often over the years developed strong friendships to those whose stories he photographed.

His way of taking pictures is also strongly influenced by the art history classes he took where he also studied all the different technical and theoretical means of which artworks of the great masters were built, in the field.
Mainly working with analogue medium format, medium format polaroids and his huge theoretical knowledge on creating and composing pictures and photographs, he deals with many concepts of the different art-historical trends. Moving his hand very vividly and skilful while working with the camera he concentrates on generating a comfortable atmosphere which will add to the photograph.

Osman Balkan finds it to be his probably biggest challenge in life to answer the question whether truth can be adequately stored within an image. Where as it all revolves around the auto- pschychoanalytical process of growing up and learning steadily he by this found his mainspring to be a neverendingly creative and productive autonomous artist. The questions he deals with are questions of everyday life but matter the most to all of us and the viewers and recipients, his very keen approaches to get a grip on a moment, make his photographs end up being very identifiable as his as he has very strong handwriting in terms of colours and composition.
